We miss Larry VERY much can't even express it. But anyway, we left Omaha to fly to Atlanta yesterday afternoon and are now in Blairsville, GA with my parents. I could tell you a story of a really rude lady at the airport and about all the looks I got when my little 18 mos guy was not so quiet but I will save you the details. We are having a great time so far it is very beautiful here in the Smokey Mountains. My parents have beautiful landscaping in their yard. They just moved here about 5 weeks ago and the prior owners had their yard professinally landscaped with wonderful flowers. There are hydrangea bushes, lavender, peonies, lillies and on and on. Beautiful. Today we went to Blue Ridge which is a small town and it is so quaint. I imagined Larry and I openning a coffee shop/bakery in a couple of available spots. There was one even with an apartment above it. Larry has always talked about living in a space like that. It is VERY laid back here which is very relaxing. Not that I am coming from a very hustle and bustle place but its nice. There are many lakes, rivers and rapids around too which Larry would love to go kayaking. I will hopefully get some pictures up on here soon. Eventhough we are having fun I miss Larry so much. That is why I say we are "Kind of" on vacation because our whole family isn't here. It is hard to be away from your best friend someone who is there every moment. Anyway, before I lose control of the emotions I should go help Grammy with Kian. Take care all!

I knew when I started this that blogging would become difficult for me to keep up with. Oh well, at least I get to it when I can. Anyway, my friend Susie has enlightened my life with a book series called the Kensington Chronicles by Lori Wick. Lori Wick is a Christian author whose books I highly recommend. I have already read three and I am on the last. I have only had them for a little more than a week. AND I HAVE A TODDLER!!! Trust me when I say they are GOOD! The series that I am reading (she does have several) is set in the Victorian England era. They are all about different women (one for each book, in this series there are 4 books) but at some point or another some of the characters return in other books. So it is not a continuing story, but when some of the other characters return its good to know they are still a part of it and you know what is going on in their lives. I told Larry that even though the books and the characters are fictional I have learned and gained so much insight from them all. I have been strongly encouraged to dig deeper and have a fuller understanding of Scripture. I have been encouraged to have a better knowledge and memory of Scripture to inscribe the words on my heart and to live by them. I have also been encouraged to be slow to reaction by that meaning that with every emotion, action or word I say to have it be pleasing and glorifying to God. These books are filled with romance, mystery and drama. I have laughed, cried and have even been placed in total shock. But the best part about it I don't have to worry about there being any bad language or anything I would be embarrassed to read. So if you are looking for a good book to read the first in the series is called The Hawk and the Jewel (a personal favorite out of them all, right Susie??!!). Let me know what you think! And Susie, thanks for encouraging and letting me borrow your books!

7 Years...

Well yesterday we celebrated 7 years. It was wonderful. Larry got up for work and I was still sleeping wasn't that nice of me?? Anyway, I eventually rolled out of bed and was in the laundry room when I was surprised by a really big hug and a "Happy Anniversary" wish. It was a great start to my day. Something so little can be so significant. So off to work he went and I went about the tending to Kian and etc. I made a cake for Larry it was a tiered cake that I decorated. It was ok. (Hopefully I can get the picture of it on here) Then when Kian went down for nap I took my shower and cleaned up the house. I was surprised by a funny card in my bathroom from Larry. The front said Who is the greatest wife in the world? You and Who is the luckiest spouse in the world? And when you open the card there is a mirror and it says, "that's right you again!!" That would only be from my husband. But it did make me laugh. Then he came home with roses all different colors which is always a wonderful surprise. This year for our 7th anniversary I decided I was going to go to Hallmark and find out what the gift for the "7th" year is. Well, here it is...copper/wool or a desk set. WHAT??? First of all what am I going to get that is copper? Second, who wants wool in June? And third, who uses desk sets anymore let alone trying to find one in a store? But I still tried to figure out something to get so after all of my searching there was no wool in sight, sales people looked at me strange when I asked for desk sets and a wooden frame with a copper look was all I got. So I developed a picture of the two of us and that's what I got him. Maybe next years gift will give me better options. Larry got me another card but this one was VERY sentimental and a willow tree figurine called Together and its a husband and wife hugging each other. I loved it. After present exchanging we got ready, dropped Kian off with some great friends of ours and Larry took me to my favorite restaurant here in Sioux City...Minerva's. I had the house salad which is delicious and for dinner the Balsamic Steak Tips with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Mmmmmmmmmm......sooo good. I enjoyed my dinner thoroughly. Larry had the steak and baked potato. He loved his too. It was absolutely a wonderful evening. We were together just enjoying every moment. I LOVE anniversaries!!! (almost as much as my birthday) JUST KIDDING!!

Bliss...

For our anniversary for one of my gifts Larry told me to go Monday night and get a manicure and pedicure...ahhhh love!! I was so obliged to meet his request so when he came home we had dinner (I made a great dish of Sweet & Sour Chicken!!thanks Susie!!) and off I went to be pampered. I went to this place that I usually go I really like it there. The owner is a Vietnamese woman named Ivy. She is really funny and super nice. But anyway, I told her I wanted to get a pedicure and manicure. She shouts to me "pick a color". So I turn to the wall of a million colors and debate to myself on what to choose. I never realized until that moment just exactly how many different shades of reds, pinks and corrals there really are. There are also some really funky colors out there too. This world of color is all new to me because I normally just get a french manicure. But this time I wanted to be different. Anyway, so after much deliberation I finally chose a hot pink glittery color. I was nervous as I was handing it over but there was no turning back I chose it and that is what I was going to do. So I sat in the big comfy chair rolled up my jeans and plopped my feet in the water! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....that felt really awesome after a long day of chasing Kian around my feet were thanking me and my lovely husband for telling me to go get it done. As I watched the lady do all that she did I realized that even though I don't get these all the time (by the way I got the Deluxe Spa treatment) I am really blessed just to have this treat even once a year. The Deluxe Spa treatment Pedicure is a regular pedicure, plus massage (longer than a normal pedicure) , plus a menthol rub with hot towel treatment and oh yes, there is more, a paraffin was treatment. Can you say this with me...WOW!!! It costs a bit more but its nice to get at least one time. After I was done she painted my toes painted a cute artistic design on my big toes and then I received my manicure. I didn't go all out on the manicure but it was just as great. I am posting this because I am grateful, I am grateful for this great gift for my anniversary and grateful for that woman who is so great at her profession that resulted in one fantastic pedicure and manicure!!! And by the way, I like the hot pick color. The design she put on is really cute too.

Almost 7 years...

On Tuesday June 24th Larry and I will be married 7 years. Its crazy how fast time flies. As I think about the last 7 years, look at pictures and reminisce, not only am I starting to see how young we looked, but I realize how blessed I am. I married a man who has done nothing but do his best. Sure we have had our ups and downs, but how foolish would it be to say that every marriage is perfect. Trust me I really haven't found one out there yet. There may be a few that come close but they would be the first ones to admit that its not always roses. The Lord truly gave me a great gift in Larry and I am so excited to celebrate with him on Tuesday and continue to share the rest of our lives together. Larry has made me so happy more than I ever thought I could be. As I have become a mom I realized that I will always want the best for my child and for my child to never settle for anything less than what the Lord wants to give him. The Lord truly knows what He is doing as I have said in a previous blog. I hope that my parents and family see that I have been given the best. The best that was created for me. I can only pray that when it is time, our children will find what I have found in Larry and that is true love. Happy Anniversary Larry! 7 whole years -G-, and a whole LIFETIME TO GO!! I love you with all of my heart. -C-

Just an update on us...

We are living in Lawton, Iowa. Lawton is a small "bedroom" community 7 miles outside of Sioux City. Larry works for a company called Smurfit-Stone as an Account Manager. I stay at home with our son Kian who is 16 mos. We have a dog named Roscoe who is a maltese/shitzu mix. He is 6 years old. We have bought our first home here and love it. We never thought Iowa would be where we would call home but it has become that for us. Right now this is where the Lord has us and we are happy. We miss our family and friends on the East coast but all we can say is hopefully someday we will find ourselves back there. You can't be picky with what you are handed in life you have the make the best of it no matter what.
